Do you like engaging with people?? Do you have an interest in nutrition?? Are you a hidden chef?? Looking to get involved in your community’s fight to alleviate hunger??

The Women of St. Joseph’s and Second Harvest are partnering to work toward this goal. Second Harvest is looking for volunteers to work as Nutrition Ambassadors with our Mobile Food Banks! The goal of Second Harvest is Healthy Food. Every Day.

Every Person. One of Second Harvest’s multiple programs to help achieve this goal is distributing food through our Mobile Food Banks. We fill a truck with food, including fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meat, bread, cereal and other staples and take it to a high-need neighborhood or

community. This unique volunteer experience as a Nutrition Ambassador (NA) works to engage Mobile Food Bank clients with interactive nutrition education. We are looking for two types of Nutrition Ambassador

Volunteers:  Nutrition Ambassador Sample Prep Team members and

Nutrition Ambassador Sample Distribution Team members.  The NA Sample Prep volunteers will be involved with preparing a recipe in advance to be sampled at the Mobile Food Bank. The NA Sample Distribution volunteers will be at the Mobile Food Bank site as a representative of Second Harvest. They will distribute food samples, recipe cards, share cooking tips and nutrition information, and occasionally make smoothies and other healthy treats on the blender bike!  Want to get involved in this program, but are not quite sure where to start? Contact Annette at annette.freier@2-harvest.org or call 509-545-0787, ext 206.

Again, thank you to all the volunteers, the set up crew, the donations, all who made the sale possible by helping or by shopping. The sorting crew is hard at work every Monday morning. No vacation for these ladies! They have even lengthened the drop-off time on Monday from 8 am to 2 pm.
